Morning Classes

Graphic Novels-

  • Homework critique
  • 180 degree rule
  • Blind contour portraits

Musing Mystics-

  • Learned about the third chakra and did a series of yoga poses to exercise this chakra
  • Discussed our most fulfilled self and how it would feel to achieve this
  • Finished our fantasized food experience reflection
  • Wrote a collaborative poem beginning with the words, “I am a woman who…” and shared them.
  • Discussed the fourth chakra- Anahata- the heart chakra, and talked about unconditional love
  • Did a series of yoga poses followed by a “Love and Kindness” meditation and exercise this chakra
  • Wrote a forgiveness poem

Afternoon Classes

Directing for Film and Video-

  • Brainstorming
  • Watched short films
  • Chose a story
  • Outlined
  • Delegated responsibilities 

Writing the College Admissions Essay-

  • Worked on drafts
  • Talked about revisions

  • Studied model essays

Finding Character Through Improv-

  • Discussed each others’ stories and everyone chose a specific character from each story to embody
  • Were placed in situations irrelevant to the original stories- but still had to portray the character
  • Discussed how each character would react in specific situations
  • Shared our favorite books with each other and chose our favorite character and identified its distinct characteristics
  • Played “Scene Three Ways”- a character improv game
  • Played “Freeze!”- another improv exercise that will be played in front of an audience
  • Played “Spelling Bee”

Percy Jackson’s Magic Pen

  • Wrote scenes for our Demi- god stories
  • Practiced for Ancient Greek Olympics
  • Visited the Memorial Art Gallery
  • Played Minotaur Tag
  • Acted out Percy Jackson plays
  • Made our own Greek shields
