Field Trip to the MAG
Today, the Myth, Mystery, & Me class and the Read Around the World class went to the Memorial Art Gallery (MAG) for a field trip. We took a tour of the gallery which included artwork from many different time periods and cultures. We looked at sculptures from the Maya civilization in Mexico, paintings by French Impressionist painters, mosaics from ancient Greece, and much more. We also learned about the mythologies of different cultures including ancient Egyptian, Greek, and Roman. We truly “traveled” all of over the world and through time just in the hour we were there. On a personal note, I was very impressed about how engaged the students were and how much knowledge the students had about the different cultures and about art. Also, I think the tour guide was surprised by how much the students knew. So, parents, you should be proud of your children because they are awesome!
